Hopefulness
September 22-26, 2014
Weekly Journal #7

Accomplishment:
This week, I was scheduled to have my rated demonstration teaching that is to be rated by my supervising instructor. I was able to increase the number of my demonstration teaching.

My Significant Experience:
When the time for me to have my rated demonstration teaching that is to be rated by my supervising instructor, my heart was like pounding in fear. I did not know what to think of. My cooperating helped me with my lesson plan. she also told me to have my lesson be demonstrated in her class that I handled but it was a failure because only few entered and only a few cooperated in the activity. So my cooperating teacher helped by giving advice and when the time came, I am hoping that everything will work out fine. I trusted God that He'll do something that day. During the aesthetic discussion of my lesson, I did not expect that my students will cry and that as they we're burning those things that they' ve written, they were moved. I was blown away with what happened and I gave back all the glory to God.

Insights:
All things work together for good to those who love God. -Romans 8:28
            We teach to touch lives.

Problems:

I had a problem with my lesson plan because my objectives did not jive with my evaluation. I was very worried because what if my students will not read the story.

Solution:
The only solution to my objectives was to revise my objectives and regarding the story, Id rather have plan B.

My Goals for Next Week:

My goals are to have more lesson plans and to give my very best in teaching.

As One

As One
Weekly Journal # 6
September 15-19, 2014

Accomplishments:
During the past week, we continued teaching at BCNHS. I was able to increase the number of my rated lesson plans. We also made our own philosophy; on what is our stand in teaching or the words that we hold on to.

Significant Experience:
This week, one of the significant experience that I found out lately was that, my classmates and I were busy doing our instructional materials. While doing our instructional materials, we kept asking each other on what are the better strategies to use on that particular topic. Lately, I just found out the importance of working as a team; helping each other out in everything that we do.

Insight:
If you run alone, you can go fast; but if we run together, we can go far.

Better together.

Problem:
So far this week, I had problems on what strategy am I going to use in my lesson. Im really running out of strategies.

Solution:

The only remedy that I thought of was to ask help from my classmates.

Goals for next week:

My goals for next week are to execute my lessons properly and to increase the quantity of my rated lessons.

Bankrupt without Love

Bankrupt without Love
Weekly Journal # 5
September 8-12, 2014

Accomplishments:
The past week, we've been through a three day training of boy scouts; it was held at Quezon Elementary School. That was from Monday to Wednesday. The training was full of lectures on how are we going to conduct ourselves as boy scouts and boy scout trainers in the future. We also gone through some hands on training like lashing, knot tying, compass reading, first aid, measuring, and flag code. I enjoyed going through those stages. Then after the training, we went back to our practice teaching. I was able to teach on the Friday about the story of “Outwitting a Crocodile”.

My Significant Experiences:
This week, I learned a lot of morals from my experience in BSP. At the training we were grouped until our graduation. I encountered diverse personalities and abilities. We were given the chance to lead the team and when my time came to lead the team, I had struggles because I have to adjust to them. One thing I’ve learned in the grouping, we need one another in the team to accomplish our goals. Because everyone in the team cooperated and gave their best, we were able to garner three red ribbons which is the highest rank of ribbon and one yellow ribbon is the lowest.
Another significant experience was that when we had a discussion in class about Maslow’s hierarchy. Ma’am Shirley Ayao-ao tickled our minds when she asked us if is right that physiological needs are the most important thing that a person needs. Everyone of us in the class said yes but Ma’am dis agreed and said that it should be love and belongingness that should go first. Example, a baby should belong to a family where he/she is loved and taken care of in order to survive. In, my mind, Ma’am has a point. No one can give the basic needs of a person if no one loves him or cares for him. From that, I’ve learned that love is the key to provide the basic needs of a person.

My Insights:
As a teacher, no matter what I say, no matter what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Problems:
This week, I had a problem regarding the two classes I’m handling. The first class that I’ve entered, they are the kind of students that are behave, disciplined but very passive. On the other hand, the class that I enter at 1 pm are noisy but are very active in class. In the first I have problems on to motivate them to recite and share their ideas and there were also times that I don’t know what to say anymore because they are very quiet. So I’m struggling in that class; on how to make it enthusiastic. Another is that, in the class they are not allowed to speak in vernacular so some of my students don’t recite because they can’t express themselves in English.

Solution:
As for now, I realized that I lack in strategy on how to make the class alive so I must search more on strategies on how to handle a passive class. One thing more, I need to know my students in order for me to know what kind of strategy I am going to use in their class.

My Goals for next week:

My goals are to discover new strategies that I can adapt in my class and to be able to increase the number of my rated lesson plans.

Unstoppable
Weekly Journal #4
September1-5, 2014

My Accomplishments:
During the past week, I was able to execute two rated lesson plans; lessons about the story the taximan's story. I was able to atleast somehow let the students reflect on who they are today and was able to let them discover their role as youth in this generation. The past week, I was also able to improve my voice in teaching and was able to see improvements in my performance like trying to move in the class and creating a non-threatening atmosphere for my students.

My Significant Experience:
I had many significant experience the past week and this one is one of my most unforgettable significant experience; my co student teacher was not really feeling well and its so happened that her cooperating teacher got absent that day. I pitied her because she was really weak and she still have classes to teach. I wanted to help her so I volunteered to teach in her class. I was feeling nervous because I was not exposed to her students so I asked her if she could accompany me to her class and she said yes. Upon arriving, I was really nervous because the students are very noisy and out of control so I thought of doing what Ma'am Shirley Ayao- ao told us that if our class is noisy, we as teachers can keep quiet and let the students notice that we are waiting for them to keep quiet. So I tried and it worked. So to cut it short, I see in the faces of the students that they enjoyed learning bibliography and it was an opportunity for me to encounter students like them. After teaching the class, my co student teacher thanked me and I believe that I was able to help her and put a smile on her face despite the pain she was going through.

Insight:
In the teaching profession, I learned that we need to back each other up and supporting one another to build up a strong relationship with one another. As teachers, we should not keep our burdens to ourselves but instead we share it to our co teachers or mentors in order for us to be guided and in order for them to help us.

Problem:
I had a severe fever the past week due to the pain in my throat. I can't even talk because it does hurt a lot. I was very worried because I have my demonstration teaching on Tuesday. So I drank a lot of water but still, it did not get any better. So Tuesday had come and I was really weak but thank God that my cooperating teacher recommended that I need to rest; she was very considerate and she to rest for that day so that I can teach the next morning.

Solution:
What I did was to take a rest, take in medicine and drink a lot of water.

Goals for next week:
Next week, I must be able to increase the number of my rated lesson plans, check the monthly journals of my students, accomplish my BSP, and do everything with a smile.:)
